Handling Difficult Conversations
Given the extraordinary times that we are in is it any surprise that there is a lack of harmony in the work place from time to time? It is essential to acknowledge that conflict has the potential to irritrevably damage working relationships.
Handling a difficult conversation is a challenge to all managers, it is stressful for all concerned. It is also about the manager being very self aware and demonstrating compassion, control and emotional intelligence.
Aim:
To provide delegates with the knowledge, tools and techniques to develop and implement behaviours that will help to ensure that situations are addressed in an effective way.
Objectives:
At the end of the workshop delegates will be able to:
- Identify different scenarios where it is essential to have the conversation sooner rather than later
- Use techniques to control your emotional state
- Listen to ensure that you understand both sides
- Structure the conversation to ensure that you get off to a good start
- Work towards a problem solving approach to ensure that the dignity of all is maintained
- Develop your support network so that you can de-brief after the conversation

The workshop will be highly interactive with a combination of pre course activities, tutor input, group discussion, role play and case studies
